The stress of finding another job.

stress

You’re in a dead end job, you feel like you’re never going to get anywhere further than the position you’re in if you stay where you are. Yet you stay there, why?

I have found this myself, I know I’m never going to progress in the job that I’m in because well, no one is. The opportunities just aren’t there. So why am I still there? Truth is you become complacent. You wake up, you go to work, you come home and you forget about it. Today I put a stop to that. I went around every shop and I got myself known, I handed CV’s out and applied online for others. After I had done all this I sat wondering what it was that took me so long to finally do it, surely it can’t just be that I got complacent in my current job, there must be more to it. Rejection. It’s got to me one of the most common fears in people, and it appears I am no exception. The second you go into a shop and ask about a job they are judging you, it’s natural who wouldn’t they aren’t going to interview someone who didn’t impress them at the first meeting. The worst they can say is no, but hell that no is scary. No one want’s to know they’re not good enough for a job they know they can do. We protect ourselves from rejection I all aspects of life, work, love, friendships, just life in general. Until we step out of our comfort zone and do things we’ve not done, we’ll have the same life we’ve always had.

  1. I’ve been job hunting for over a month now, with two interviews under my belt; one that went well which I didn’t get, one which went badly who I haven’t yet heard from; and it is the most stressful time of my life no doubt!

    • It really is super stressful. Hopefully if I get an interview my first one wont be awful because that would put me off for life. My current jobs interview was a group interview and was so laid back so it will be a shock to the system going into anything else I think. Hope you find one soon sweet! This time of year is usually quite good for job searching as people are leaving their jobs for Uni, or to go back to their jobs that don’t run through the summer such as schools 🙂 Unless you’re looking for a job in a school….then….um… haha xx

      • I think I would find group interviews more daunting! Haha! Having to compete with others right there in front of you!
And yeah I’m continuously applying for jobs… Though I am thinking of changing my strategy a bit. We shall see.
Good luck with your job hunt too! 🙂
